The agricultural sector provides food for most of the global population and is required to sustain it. Crops especially, require a favorable growth environment, including the right amount of water, an appropriate temperature and little or no damaging events. In many parts around the world climate change is affecting this growth environment, both in beneficial and harmful ways. Therefore, articles in this section aim to answer questions such as: “how does an increase in extreme temperatures affect crop yield?”, “what is the likelihood of crop failure in the future under different global warming scenarios?” and ”can changes in agricultural management mitigate adverse effects of climate change?”.
